Seniors Helping Seniors® Lorain County In-home Services is excited to announce the transfer of ownership to husband-and-wife Roderick Bowdle and Moriah Umbs and Veteran Nehemiah Sparling. With hard work and dedication, they will continue to sustain and grow the quality-of-service Seniors Helping Seniors® Lorain County has provided throughout the years.
“It is a blessing to help seniors and make a positive impact in their life in such an exciting way,” says new owner Roderick Bowdle. “I love being a part of the connections that are made for those who need care. Seniors Helping Seniors® Lorain County provides us an opportunity to modify the business to fit our client's needs and expand our business to assist individuals in rural Lorain county and the surrounding area.”
New owner Moriah Umbs's driving force is her passion for improving people’s lives and being able to provide support to empower the community. Her experience in customer and client relationship management, office administration, and marketing design have provided her with a wealth of knowledge in the business industry.
"It is a privilege to be able to provide a foundation for others to grow and thrive in their everyday life. When looking into the process of purchasing a business with Roderick, we appreciated how dedicated Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services is to the community. The model of seniors helping others to age with dignity and move into a different chapter of life easily and gracefully was an inspiration for us" says Moriah.
Roderick has a background in accounting and finance and has overseen teams and departments in multiple industries. He is looking forward to making a positive impact on the lives of people in the senior community and will continually strive to do the right thing for his clients and employees.
New owner Nehemiah Sparling says "When I see a need, I try to fill it and I saw a need for America’s seniors. I want to be a part of something greater than myself and contribute to the defense of our great democracy. Senior veterans hold a special place in my heart. I can relate to many of their experiences, and I feel it is extremely important that their sacrifice (whether big or small) not be forgotten and we care for every senior veteran, always."
"I have seen the incredible impact that Seniors Helping Seniors® Lorain County has made in the lives of countless seniors. Connecting loving and supporting caregivers to seniors allows for greater independence which unlocks the key to thriving and living life to the fullest throughout the aging process" according to Nehemiah.
Nehemiah joined the Air Force in 2015 working in the areas of military logistics, readiness management, and deployment operations. He served seven and a half years on active duty and three deployments to the Republic of Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait during his time in the Air Force.
During the transitional period, there will be adjustments made in the best interest of their clients, caregivers, and the community. The new owners plan to be involved with implementing the changes to ensure a smooth transition for their receivers and caregivers.
One area of focus will be on training. Caregivers will receive ongoing training through CareAcademy and new caregivers will receive one-on-one training in the home of their receiver. CareAcademy is an online platform that provides training to keep caregivers in compliance with Ohio’s requirements and enables learners to build functional skills and improve proficiency.
“It is a privilege for us to be able to provide supportive and compassionate care and give the reassurance that your loved one is in good hands,” says Moriah. Hiring qualified caregivers is a high priority for the new owners and they are exploring new ways to find caregivers and ensure they are skilled and provide expert care for the seniors they help.
